Have you found a foreign body in food?

We welcome and encourage consumers to report food safety related incidents but …………… its best to do a few kitchen checks first.

A recent complaint to Safe Food involved a foreign body  (piece of metal) allegedly found in meat. The metal was tested and did not match metal from knives etc used in meat processing. The mystery metal proved to be a piece of domestic kitchen  potato / vegetable peeler blade.

Consumers are encouraged to report instances of foreign bodies and contaminants whenever found but are urged to double check their kitchen for possible causes.
